Weekend With Nate Followup
ResilienceOK. The weekend was a long time ago. I need to be posting more often.
The weekend of April 8 Nathan Kempton visited Bellingham, WA and left 4 families absolutely stunned.
Over the course of two days, he gave us the briefest of introductions to the intricate relationships between animals and the landscape they inhabit. Everyone was overwhelmed with the amount of direct hands on experience and knowledge they gained in such a short period of time.
Can you walk up to a field and know with 80 percent certainty where in that landscape you will find signs of which animals? Two days with Nate made me believe that it was both possible and achievable.
In fact, we did it! Proved to ourselves that the behaviour of animals can be predictable. Meaning we now know where to find them when we want or need to find them. Like when the store shelves are empty.
Since I organized the event with Nate I had the great fortune of helping get everything set up each morning.
I am not exagerating here. I learned more in those two hours preparing for the day than I have all the other various Survival and Nature classes I have taken.
It was worth every penny to fly him out here.
Everything Nate does he has tested. He’s been tracking, trapping, hunting, exploring and studying since he was 7 years old. Over 40 years. He is obsessed with animals and tracks and nature.
He’s worked with Special Forces, Law Enforcement and Kids Programs. He doesn’t teach anything he hasn’t verified. You can imagine what that means considering the knowledge he’s been asked to share with some of his students.
You can find him cited in at least one Peterson Guide, I’ve been told. (I haven’t gotten around to checking it, yet.)
What does this have to do with being Self Sufficient?
He told me exactly what he would do if society collapsed and he needed to provide food for his family.
Anybody interested in what this guy has to say?
I’ll invite him out again if there’s any interest. Let me know.
