Violence Survival Training

Last post, I said I would tell you what I am doing to get ready :

Look around your community. Who do you know? Bet there’s some folks out there that would make amazing resources for the times that are coming. Get to know them. Most are very happy to share there years of experience with soncere and appreciative students.

I personally know people who are the cream of the cream of the crop in:

• Wilderness Survival
• Animal Tracking, Trapping and Hunting
• Foraging in the Wild
• Personal Safety in Violent Environments
• Tactical Shooting

I am inviting small groups of people to train with these experts in private. These are not public events. Participants cover expenses and fees to fly the experts in. The checks get written to them. I’m there to learn and train.

Spring of 2006

Nathan Kempton taught us how to read a landscape to find animals. I learned that one of the most common snares taught in every survival school and book is fatally flawed. By the time you learn about why, you’re family is likely to have starved.

I also learned what it would take to truly provide meat for a small group of people. If you were to have to figure this stuff out on your own you would get awfully skinny doing it.

October of 2006

We’re having a completely new topic in October. Violence Survival. How to survive a street fight. No martial arts in this class. (Because the survivors on the street don’t use fancy moves to stay alive.)

Learning to read a situation before the fight begins. What to do when you can’t avoid it. Hopefully, we’ll be able to move into wilderness travel scenarios, too.

The instructor works with Law Enforcement and Military personnel on personal defense techniques. He also has a Military and street fighting background.

This time we’re going to do some video taping. The plan is everybody will be able to bring a DVD of the class home.

And that’s what I’m doing.
