Single Best Investment For Staying Warm

Resilience

Somebody had this on another blog and I can’t find it, now. Your single best investment for staying warm as oil goes the way of the dinosaur?

Sleeping bags. One for each member of the family.

Rated to as low as you can afford (at least -20 F), synthetic fill insulation, and designed to maintain loft and distribution of the fill.

Take care of them and they will last a long time. They are portable and they are very warm. Everyone can huddle under a stack of them and be too warm.

After the sleeping bags stock up on heavy wool blankets.

Not many people are aware of how precarious the oil situation really is today. Natural gas looks to be in even worse shape.

For the cost of a new gas heater you should be able to outfit a whole family of four with the best of the best. And once you’ve got ’em paid for, they don’t have a monthly bill attached.

At least, that’s my plan.
