Listening as a Means of Expressing Love in the World

The ability to just be present with someone seems rare these days. Just being present and listening. I had the privilege of being able to do just that with a complete stranger, recently, by email.

A woman I had never met before told me her story after finding and friending me on the Positive Atmosphere website. She shared her heroic journey (my words) of living her life. Something she had never done before. My presence and encouragement were what I offered her in exchange. No opinions or guidance as to future choices.

She said, “Thank you for sharing with me and letting me share with you. I haven’t done that before, and you have helped me discover myself by writing about it to you.”

What would our world be like if we could, “Just Be” with each other? (Thank you, Jim Fortin) At least, every now and then.
