Making Money and Paying Your Bills After Peak Oil
ResilienceHave you thought about how to make money after gas gets to be $10/gallon? I am.
You can bet that EVERYTHING is going to be different.
As an example: People will begin to change their travel habits dramatically. (They already have.) Fewer trips to the store, commuting to work etc….
Anything having to do with using energy is going to be impacted to one degree or another.
What are the implications?
- Local trips will be the rule. Whether for shopping or vacationing.
- Consumers will focus on essentials.
- Communications and freight systems should still be quite viable. Internet and mailorder businesses will thrive.
- People are going to lose their homes. Hints of it are already in the air. Overnight people will go from feeling rich (home equity) to being poor (can’t pay mortgage).
- Throw away society will change to quality purchasing. Repairable goods in demand.
- Finding things over here and selling them over there.
- Information will be crucial. People need to learn what their Great Grandparents knew. It won’t be long and they will WANT to learn those skills, as well.

Our economy has become very centralized. Centralized manufacturing, shopping and services. The suburbs rarely have products and services available within walking distance. A situation which could spell Opportunity for individuals with the vision to see it.
Cottage manufacturing and local distribution.
Products and services that sold in the 1800’s will give clues and inspiriation for making a living over the next 20 years and beyond.
Check out some of the ads on this site for ebooks and courses. They are the type of business ideas that should do very well as everything we know about society changes. I’ve bought each of them myself. Good stuff.
