Finding Old Gardening Books for a New Age

Resilience

Ever wonder how people grew gardens before oil and natural gas? Most of our food these days depends on both of those. For fertilizer and transportation system.

The average home gardener with pesticides, fertilizers and other chemical inputs, is dependant on oil and gas. Don’t forget the seeds. Most of them won’t produce seeds for saving to use the next year.

I found a book from the early 1900’s about gardening. A friend pointed out that the book was written at a time when all gardeners were organic gardeners.

I have a feeling these kinds of references are going to become really important as time goes on.

Keep an eye out for those old gardening books from WAY back. You might find some great ideas, if you want to get into the organic thing.
